| Sat 14th | Flatwork & Showjumping Instruction from Ticky Fletcher BHSI Ticky's renowned calm and sympathetic teaching style and encouragement will help you get your horse/ pony prepared for taking you around a jumping course, or working nicely on the flat. If jumping, please mention on booking what heights you are currently clearing. Venue: Watt Meadow, nr J11, M6. Session times: 2 one-hour long sessions, one flatwork, one jumping 3pm & 4pm. | Sat 28th | Private Tuition from Advanced Event Rider, Andrew Downes Andrew is a renowned and successful local event rider who has competed at Badminton and other such prestigious events, and has been persuaded, in his eventing off-season to help out us ‘grass roots riders’ with private training sessions at all levels. Sessions available in either flatwork or jumping, so if you are working on something in particular you can build up your skills over the winter period! Venue: Myrtle Grove Brewood, or Somerford Mill Farm indoor school if weather inclement. Session times: Start from 8am. Prices: £42 per hour to include travel/arena costs. | Sun 5th | Schooling sessions with Judi Kemp - CANCELLED Judi is has been helping out with RC schooling for several years so needs no introduction, but she is a very experienced instructor in dressage, showjumping and horse trials, and is a Pony club examiner of long standing. This session will go through schooling techniques and exercises to practice whenever you ride your horse. Venue: Burnhill Green Farm Manege Session Times: Two 1 hour sessions starting 10am and 11am. | Fri 10th | Charity Chinese Auction (dismounted event) Our previous year’s event was so successful, raising £1000 for the air ambulance, that we’ve decided to repeat it for this very worthy cause. It was great fun for all involved and we hope for an equal number of wonderful donations from members and friends. Any contributions gratefully received – doesn’t have to be new or expensive! ‘Promises’ equally well received – e.g. we’ve previously received offers of a house spring clean and a groom for a day. Let your imagination run wild! Venue: Featherstone Community Centre, Baneberry Drive, Featherstone, Wolverhampton. | Sun 12th | Flat and Polework with Laura Strong After several successful and well complimented sessions with Laura as a trainer, we are pleased she is continuing to provide us with the opportunity to do some more! Laura is a qualified BHSAI and is building on her reputation as a keen and effective trainer. Laura has a long history in all riding disciplines, including tetrathlon, and there’s little she hasn’t experienced first hand as far as horses and riding are concerned. | Sat 24th | Carriage Driving for beginners with Tony and Carol Gregory After our last very successful and well complimented session with Tony and Carol last year, we are pleased they have given us the opportunity again to see first hand and find out everything about driving a horse/pony. As a renowned and friendly expert, Tony can guide you in all matters driving – where to start, training the horse to drive, long-reining, fitting the harness and the types of carriages available. Tony has a way of explaining the world of driving with articulate enthusiasm, and it will again be an interesting morning discovering the secrets of success in this now rarer form of horsey discipline. Venue: Eversleigh, Langley Road, Lower Penn. Session time 10am (for approximately 2 hours). Price: £2 per person.
