SHELL SIMPSON -
Showing Entries & Judges Assistant
Shell is new to our committee and has only recently joined the club although she has helped at events for a while now.
She been a keen equine enthusiast a lot of her life and had her first pony at aged 14. She has done plenty of competing along the way but she now spends most of her time on the ground, although she is hoping to get back on board soon.
She has been a regular helper at our shows ever since we moved to our new show ground. She has taken on a lot of the work related to the Showing classes which includes: taking the entires, helping set up and pack away, and she also works the Show ring all day assisting the judges.

“You’ll be wanting to know what I had for breakfast next!”
Q - How long have you been riding?
A – Since I was about nine. I started lessons at Stourton Riding School. I’m more feet on the floor nowadays though , hoping to get back onboard soon.
Q – When did you join ESRC?
A – I first did ESRC shows around 16 years ago, and I’ve recently rejoined after becoming part of the committee.
Q – Who inspires you in the equine world?
A – Anyone with the confidence to simply enjoy it , that’s what it’s all about. When I was younger, though, it was all about Mary King. I’m sure I saw her once at Blenheim Horse Trials when I was about 12!
Q – What’s your favourite horse discipline?
A – I enjoy them all, but I love watching dressage the most.
Q – If you could own any horse, past or present, who would it be?
A – My old mare, Belle. She was an absolute diamond.
Q – What’s your silliest horse-related injury?
A – I was trying out a new horse that took off with me in the indoor school. I thought it was about to jump the gate, but it stopped suddenly instead , and I flew off! I tried to break my fall with my hand… and broke it in the process. It still aches now!
Q – TB or Cob?
A – I’d have to say cob , coloured cobs are my favourite! Nothing against TB’s though.
Q – HOYS or Olympia?
A – Honestly, neither are really for me. I much prefer a mooch around a tack shop.
Q – Mare or Gelding?
A – Either!
Q – What’s your horsey pet hate?
A – Inconsiderate drivers. There’s just no need for it!
