A fab turn out by both Juniors & Seniors and a Championship ticket for one rider!
Sunday 28th July ‘24
The summer qualifiers were also at Solihull and we sent both Juniors & Seniors.
Bella Lewis did fabulous in her first go at Area coming home with a total of 8 faults in two rounds which is brilliant. Charlee Westwood also being her first Area competition came home with a big smile on her face at Flossie’s first go with only one down in each round.
Bella also did the 80 and had a few knock downs but it was a great experience for them both and we look forward to them joining us again next season.
Branden Westwood competed in his first year as a Senior but sadly Willow wasn’t on a going day in the 70cm class, but they live to fight another day.
Patsy Pyke did the 70cm and had a couple of knock downs. She also did the 80cm and again had a few knock downs which kept her out of the placings.
Sam Pomells joined Patsy in the 70cm and did fabulous just knocking down two over the two rounds, but a great effort. Jenny Millman also took part and did a lovely first round but didn’t go so smoothly on round 2, however she put up a super round in the 75cm style jumping along with Patsy, to finish 8th & 10th.
A special well done to Karen Oliver riding Kirstie Morris superstar mare Ruby whilst Kirstie is on the sidelines, and she finished 2nd in the 90cm as an individual and qualified for the National Championships! Unfortunately they had to withdraw just days before the competition as Ruby wasn’t right.
A championship qualifier!
Sunday 25th February ‘24
The winter qualifiers were at Solihull and we sent three seniors to take part.
Patsy Pyke & Kiki Anderson represented the club in the 70cm & 80cm finishing outside the rosettes, but a brilliant effort from both of them on their young horses. Well done girls.
A huge well done to Kirstie Morris and her multitalented superstar mare Ruby, who also went along and took part in the 90cm class as an individual. They did two super clear rounds and finished a fantastic 2nd place qualifying for the Championships in April at Arena UK in April.
They did fantastically well at the Championships and finished with a total of only 4 faults (a very unlucky knock down!) over 2 very testing courses. The competition was tough with 107 in the class, and 42 double clears so sadly no ribbons this time but what a great effort by them both.

Tough courses and a great effort by all!

It’s a Team 3rd for the 90cm girls!! Well done Laura Leigh, Alice Robinson & Leigh Jameson!
A huge well done to all of our Show Jumpers today. There were some tricky courses and not many clears, so it was great that they came home with ribbons!
Two lovely clears in Round 1 for Patsy & Gina in the 70cm class but sadly the second rounds didn’t quite go to plan with a few poles down and some miscommunications, but all were thrilled with their horses so well done ladies for giving it a go.
Patsy also did the 80cm class with Sarah Turner & Kiki Anderson. Sarah & Patsy had super first rounds and a couple down in the second very twisty round which made it hard for them both to get their young horses into a rhythm. Kiki was here for an education with her new horse who will have learned loads today. Well done for giving it a go.
Patsy and Laura also did the style jumping which was a lovely simple course on grass and they both did great. Laura got an Individual 6th and Patsy still managed a 13th even after navigation issues which is very impressive!
Laura also managed an individual 5th in the 90cm class so well done Laura.
Thankyou to all the amazing helpers also who held horses so riders could walk courses, and to all of you for doing your best and representing the club! Your all stars!
Winners are grinners!

What a great result at the Area Show Jumping!
We had superstar Tracey Crane winning as an individual, Alice Robinson came 5th individually…and the team came 2nd missing out on 1st place by just one measly pole.
Tracey was super nifty and did all the tight turns with Big Eric, so a very worthy winner!
Kirstie Morris & Fulwoods Sensation would have been 2nd without an unfortunate pole down as she also went super fast!
Alice nearly missed a fence but her one in a million horse Vintage Cool jumped a metre fence from the most horrific angle almost at walk.
Leigh Jameson had a nice round just sadly got a couple of poles, but we are thrilled she could step in for Laura who’s vaccinations had lapsed.
So overall a really good day for East Shropshire and huge well done ladies. Tracey will be heading to the Championships at Onley in April.
Well done everyone!
A fabulous day at the Winter Area SJ qualifiers.
Sunday 19th February ‘23
Patsy Pyke & Tracy Hope ended up as individuals after Gina Seggar & Charlotte Perry sadly had to pull out, but they both did the club very proud!
Tracy did a beautiful clear in the first round and was almost home and dry until she knocked the dreaded last fence down in round 2! (We hate the last fence at ESRC!!) But a fab effort and finished in individual 13th / 40!
Patsy also did a fabulous first round clear but a couple of indoor green mistakes in round 2 left her and Eddie with 2 poles down. Nothing a bit of time will improve and another great effort from this up and coming combination!
Then it was the 80cm class. Patsy kicked things off with Eddie and made a great effort but sadly had 2 down, just not quite agreeing on a stride. They had a couple more down in round 2 but this is the biggest Eddie has ever jumped so Patsy was thrilled and Eddie did his best.
Alice Robinson was next, setting the standard on superstar Vintage Cool.
Sarah Turner followed with her young mare Coco who also did a perfect clear round!
Tracy kept the ball rolling with a fabulous clear but decided to finish on that and withdrew before round 2 as Barbers Boy was quite tired. A fab effort by these two having only one down in three rounds!
Alice & Sarah both did the most beautiful clear rounds in round 2, with Alice finishing individual 7th / 55 riders! Absolutely brilliant. Unfortunately Sarah had some navigation problems and jumped fence 10 backwards instead of fence 6. It’s a shame as she jumped them all perfectly, but we’ve all been there!
Well done all of you today. A great effort by all and hopefully we have lots of promise in our club for the summer qualifiers!
We have a National Champion in our Club!

Senior member Laura Leigh won the 80cm summer qualifiers with her top horse Diesel back in July at Solihull, automatically qualifying for the National Championships at Lincoln.
Laura duly obliged the invitation and travelled up to Lincoln on Sunday morning for the finals.
Although Laura & Diesel regularly compete in affiliated Show Jumping, she admitted to feeling super nervous about this show and wanting to do the club proud.
Laura was jumping early in the morning, but after walking the course felt more relaxed. There was no jump that looked too frightening for the pair and the course looked straight forward enough.
They jumped their first round just after 9am and came out with a fabulous clear! Great start!
Her next round was 40mins later and she walked that course looking for possible corners she could cut in the jump off phase. She was last to go and nobody had gone clear so Laura was undecided whether to go for a steady clear, or risk knocking one down and being a slow 4 faulter. Instead she chose to take a medium paced round that would be safe, yet keep moving incase she had any faults. But she didn’t, and Laura finished on a clear round winning her class! The only combination to have a double clear in the whole class!
Well done Laura & Diesel!
This is a huge deal for not only Laura, but also for East Shropshire Riding Club. We have sent a few competitors to the Nationals in the past, but we have never had anyone win it before. The courses are big and testing just to qualify, so when you get there they are full up with wide spreads and tricky combinations. Just for a competitor to win a qualifier is a huge deal, so for Laura to win that and then get to the finals and win that too is such an achievement and she should be so proud of herself and Diesel. We will all be asking Laura to sign her picture when it’s in the BRC magazine!
An amazing and memorable weekend for Laura & Diesel and we are immensely proud of her.
A busy day at the qualifiers and a winner!
Sunday 31st July ‘22
A fabulous day at the Area 5 Show Jumping qualifier today.
We kicked off the day with our 70cm team of Patsy Pyke & Wild Edric, Sharon Stokes & Tom Wade, Charlotte Perry & Batman II.
Charlotte set the standard with a brilliant Clear in the first round. Patsy went next and almost did the perfect round but sadly just tipped one of the poles finishing with 4f. Then Sharon went next and also just had one unlucky pole.
In round 2 Charlotte sadly knocked down the second fence, but they soon got into their indoor groove and cleared the rest easily. Patsy went next and had two down but was thrilled with Eddie and his first attempt at indoor jumping! Sharon however wasn’t happy with Tom so she decided to retire him and save him for another day.
Next up was the 80cm class where we had a team of Patsy, Kiki Anderson & Hogan, Em Stokes & Redhill Skandel & Alice Robinson with Vintage Cool. Patsy went first with Eddie and appart from two green mistakes, they came away with two knockdowns
- but a great effort for an ex-racehorse who only learned to jump a double last week! Kiki flew round with a perfect clear much to the delight of the whole team! Alice went next and also made it look easy with a clear. Then next was Emma who was almost home and dry until she knocked the very last fence down!
In round 2 Patsy & youngster Eddie we’re starting to get the hang of things but a few miscommunications led to 2 knock downs, but what a great effort from this pair. Eddie is definitely a horse for the future! Alice, Emma & Kiki all did the most perfect second rounds, all cut the corners and set the standard-but they all knocked the last fence down! What is it with last fences today?! Very unfair after lovely jumping but a great effort by all and the team came home with a 4th.
Next was Laura Leigh & Diesel in the 80cm Open (for horses with BSJA points). Diesel made it look so easy and popped around both rounds with ease to finish on a double clear and the overall winner!
Alice also took Vinnie in the 90cm as an individual. She started great with a super clear in the first round, but sadly he was getting a little tired inside so finished with 2 knock downs.
It’s been a long day of rain then sun then rain again, but the riders did the club very proud and Laura is off to the championships at Lincoln in September!
Well done everyone! A great effort today.
Team 2nd at the Open Qualifiers!
Sunday 27th February 2022
What a fantastic day at the Area 5 Show Jumping today with our 80cm & 90cm seniors, which was postponed from last Sunday due to the wind.
Today the weather was beautiful and our team was in top form finishing 2nd out of 13 teams and qualifying for the Championships. All of them did double clears and only missed out on 1st by 2 seconds. A huge well done to the girls Alice Robinson and Vintage Cool, Kiki Anderson and Hogan, Em Stokes and Redhill Skandel.

Alice also did the 90cm as an individual and did another foot perfect round finishing individual 6th out of 36 competitors. This is the biggest height Alice has jumped in competition, so a huge achievement for her and Vintage Cool.
Also well done to Kiki, who had to borrow her moms horse due to having to pull Cymond Lancelot out last minute. Not an easy task to show jump double clears at Area level on a strange horse.
Unfortunately none of them could make the Championships, with Camp already booked for the same weekend, but the summer Championship dates are already in their calendars. (We just hope they qualify again!)

An individual 2nd at the Show Jumping Qualifiers winter league!
Sunday 20th February 2022
A brilliant day at Solihull for Patsy Pyke & Sharon Stokes who braved the weather and did fantastically in the 70-80cm for ESRC. The whole competition was over by noon, as the bigger classes have been postponed to next Sunday…and the weather this morning was damp but no wind thankfully.
Sharon & Tom Wade jumped a beautiful first round in what was a very twisty course, but they had a very unlucky pole at fence 3. The second round they got into their groove and flowed around perfectly but had two unlucky poles where Tom didn’t quite get the right stride. But these two did so well and we can’t wait to see more from them this summer.
Next to go was Patsy & Southern Fox, who made it look easy! They started off with a foot perfect clear in the first round, and a second clear round in the final round. A double clear at Area competition is an achievement in itself and with some unbelievable turns in the jump off it was gutting that they were pipped into 1st place by 1 second. So unlucky for them as some of their jump off turns would have put JA ponies to shame! But wow-2nd out of 34 competitors! Well done Patsy & Splodgers who are heading to the Championships in March!
A huge Thankyou to Team Manager Racheal Kneller and helpers Chris Kneller & Denise Billingham who came to help and support our girls.
Next weekend Kiki Anderson, Alice Robinson & Em Stokes will be competing in the postponed 80cm & 90cm classes from today.
